Over all this was a major win of a mod and i highly recommend it if you have big hands.5X5 Combat Solutions warrants that all of our genuine products are free from defects in materials and workmanship. With the Yo 2, there wasn't any issue with the blade not being centered or the lockup being drastically effected or not being able to get the pivot tension just right with little to no effort. The best part is, this knife came apart and went back together sooo much easier than my Para 2 did, which is saying a lot because as far as knife disassembly goes the Para 2 is pretty dang easy. I used my Edge Pro stones to smooth it out and all is well. Further inspection found a dint in the washer where the burr was. Then, when i got the knife apart, i noticed this little burr on the inside lip of one of the liners right where the washer would lay. The pivot screws on the other hand were so tight that it did this to my torx bit The stop pin screws were barely finger tight.which was a shocker. I originally thought i would smooth off the points on the rest of the handle, but they fit my fingers so nice now that i don't think i will. I really wish i had thought of doing some before shots for comparison, but suffice to say my huge fingers fit like the knife was custom made for my hand. Make note of the line that the detent follows.more on that laterĪnd finally, some shots of how the grip changed. I used a marker to try to get an idea of what i'd be doing.Īnd then with the blade laying on the pivot to see if i could gauge how much metal would be removed. My biggest fear was weakening the pivot by taking off metal around it, but once i saw how thin the area is where the lock tab engages, i stopped worrying about that. Now that it's apart, i set out deciding how much i could take off before i got into the liners. Or, suffice to say that Spyderco is just getting better at what they do and it shows in this next generation of compression lock knives. Those who know me know i'm a Para 2 guy to the death, but i honestly feel this knife is better engineered. Overall i'm very impressed with this knife. Since i was taking the knife apart, and i haven't seen anyone post pics of the insides of a Yo 2 yet, here's some shots of what you'll find inside. The difference is pretty subtle, and if you haven't handled a Yo 2 yet you probably wouldn't even notice, but the difference is astonishing. So, i set out to open that area of the handle up. The devil is in the details they say, and for all the things i love about this knife, the one thing that has slowly been nagging me more and more was that my big sausage fingers didn't fit the finger choil/grooves very well, mainly the index/middle finger in the big choil just behind the pivot.
